Your files stay on your device
This page describes exactly what happens to your data when you use PDF Tinker. Last updated 25 October 2026.
Your files
PDFs and images you add are read by your browser from your device and processed in the memory of the open tab. They are never uploaded: PDF Tinker has no server-side processing and makes no network request containing your files or anything derived from them. Results are created in the tab and saved through your browser’s normal download. When you close or reload the tab, the files are gone from the page’s memory.
What your browser loads from this site
Your browser downloads the site’s own files from pdftinker.me: pages, styles, scripts and fonts. When a PDF needs them for display, PDF.js also loads helper files (standard fonts, character maps and image decoders) from pdftinker.me. These requests ask for fixed files and contain nothing from your documents. The only other requests are the Cloudflare Web Analytics beacon described below.
Storage and cookies
PDF Tinker sets no cookies. If you pick a light or dark theme, that choice is saved in your browser’s local storage under the key pdftinker-theme. PDF Tinker stores nothing else on your device.
Page-view statistics
The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. Cloudflare adds a small beacon script to each page (loaded from static.cloudflareinsights.com, reporting to cloudflareinsights.com). It counts visits without cookies or cross-site tracking, and it never receives what you type, paste or drop into the tools: your files, their names and contents, and your settings stay in the tab.
There is no advertising, no tracking pixels and no other third-party script on this site.
Hosting
The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare handles the requests your browser makes for the site’s files, which include standard information such as your IP address, browser user agent and the address requested. Those requests never include your PDFs or images.
Links to other sites
Some pages link to other websites, such as our sister sites. When you follow a link, that site’s own privacy practices apply.
